Strong Foundation To Develop Child’s Musical Prowess
Beginner lessons are basically meant to build the student’s musicality, rapport, and technical facility. Having a private piano class is a strong foundation in listening and sight reading that were also developed in earlier lessons.
Ideally, piano lessons are interactive and fun with various activities covered in the lesson time. It is also possible for the young children’s parents to join their children, and take notes with them. The parents can also make a follow-up with the children in-between lessons.
On the students’ part, their long-term goal should be to learn, conduct regular practice and exhibit progress.
With the student’s learning progress and offering words of encouragement from both the piano teacher and the child’s parent are key ingredients, anyone, starting out requires putting their best effort.
Performance Opportunities
Every student has the opportunity to perform before others and let others have his/her musical piece. It is a gesture that motivates every student to work towards building realistic goals, while also practising to confidently deliver on these goals.
Every now and then, there are student concerts that are organised to enable students to share their musical work with their peers and loved ones.
Our private tutors conduct music lessons with a focus on giving a good technical foundation to our music students. We spend a significant amount of time developing a critical musical sense, ear, and technical work.
Good Practices in Piano Playing
As students learn to play the piano, there are several habits that are formed at the subconscious level, including:
– The way music is read;
– The way music is listened to;
– The way the body coordinates moves;
– The way habits are checked; and
– The way to practice effectively;
Private piano class develops good reading habits, muscular coordination, listening, and self-awareness. These are the necessary traits required at the early levels to lay a firm foundation in readiness for a more complex playing encounter later on.
Depending on the learner’s psychomotor skills and natural musicality, it is likely that students with no appropriate instructions from their teachers will form poor habits.
Many students become discouraged and sadly feel that music is not “their thing” when problems surface. Some of them end up giving up their musical goal altogether, while a few others give it that “one last chance” by trying a different piano teacher.
When good habits whether musically, technically, or in listening are instilled by a piano teacher to students at a young age, a firm foundation is formed that may be needed in making these students more adaptable to the changing learning conditions.
Correcting Poor Habits
For students that wish to advance in playing piano but had started poorly, it is essential to consistently correct any poor habit in them.
It is important noting that it is extremely hard to correct poor habits in a student. This mainly happens because these poor habits are as a result of many years of misguided practice.
However, with the help of a good teacher working with a diligent student in a private piano class, it is possible to correct such habits to a good degree.
